The Student Success Summit is hosted by United Services for All Children (USAC). The Student Success Summit is hosted by United Services for All Children (USAC). USAC is state-level collaborative workgroup focused on enhancing mental/behavioral health of school-aged children. Collaborating agencies include: the Texas Education Agency, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, the Texas Juvenile Justice Department, the University of Texas Institute for Excellence in Mental Health, Education Service Center 4, the Texas Workforce Commission and the Department of Family and Protective Services Division of Prevention and Early Intervention.

The Summit Planning Committee seeks presentations related to the promotion of integrated mental and behavioral health strategies that support Texas schools, students, families and staff.  Presentations will be geared to a multi-disciplinary audience of child-serving professionals including: District Leadership Teams, PBIS teams, school administrators, educators, school counselors, school social workers, licensed specialists in school psychology, nurses, clinicians, juvenile justice staff, child welfare staff, community mental health staff, mental health policy experts, and state agency staff.

Workshop slots are available for proposals that promote mental and behavioral health in schools; particularly proposals showcasing effective strategies that have a collaborative component to the program or strategy connected to addressing school mental and behavioral health.

The Planning Committee is also seeking proposals that include youth, young adults or family members as presenters or co-presenters who have accessed services from any youth-serving systems. 

Applicants interested in providing presentations on multiple topics must submit separate applications for each topic.   Up to two speakers for each workshop will be provided with a complimentary registration to the Summit.  No speaker fees are available for workshop presenters. 
 
 
Examples of Workshop Topics:
School-based or school-connected mental health services; implementing a full continuum of effective promotion and intervention; addressing youth mental health challenges; trauma-Informed practices for schools; collaborative family-school-community system approaches; developing community partnerships and agreements for school mental health; strategies to involve diverse stakeholders including youth, families, educators, community staff in school mental health; innovative school mental health strategies for small and rural communities; integrated school health and mental health coordination; building quality assessment, service coordination and measuring results; policy issues for school mental and behavioral health; substance abuse prevention and intervention; youth development and resiliency in schools; social and emotional learning strategies; faith-based initiatives; prevention and intervention initiatives; using data to promote mental wellness and educational success; multi-tiered systems of supports; suicide prevention.
