ITI Seeks Community Feedback on VPAT® 2.0 Beta.

The Information Technology Industry Council, ITI, is pleased to introduce a beta of the next iteration of the Voluntary Product Accessibility Template®, commonly known as the VPAT®, and is asking for public review and feedback.  This preliminary version, which we're calling VPAT® 2.0 Beta, incorporates:

-- One universal format for reporting multiple standards

-- Instructions to provide for consistent, uniform and more complete reporting by manufacturers, and

-- Additional fields for contact information and manufacturer notes

Consistent with the original version of the VPAT®, the VPAT® 2.0 Beta format provides for the recording of conformance information for each provision of a relevant standard or guideline by documenting one of four conformance levels.  It also provides the opportunity to convey a more detailed explanation for all responses.  Our intent remains the same: to facilitate the conveyance of reliable and usable product information that can be recorded once and used by all customers.

VPAT® 2.0 Beta is pre-populated with the current Section 508, EN 301 549 and WCAG standards.  Once the U.S. Access Board publishes the final update of its Section 508 standard, the revised criteria will be incorporated into an updated VPAT template and made available via the ITI web site.

ITI requests interested parties to visit the ITI web site (http://www.itic.org/policy/accessibility), to download and review the new format and instructions (in Microsoft® Word®), and then complete this short survey.   We will review responses, determine if any changes are needed, and then formally release the updated template for use by all manufacturers of all covered ICT products and services.
