The North Dakota Center for Nursing has worked for the last two years with a large group of nurses and stakeholders to develop a program that provides an opportunity for employers to work together with all levels of nurses to promote a positive workplace culture and environment to support the formation of Professional Identity in Nursing.

The ND Nursing Culture of Excellence Designation program is ready to accept applications from health care employers to serve as pilot facilities for this new program. Applications for the pilot program are due March 15, 2021.

Eligible employers include large and small hospitals, clinics, long-term care, home health, hospice and public health organizations located within North Dakota with a commitment to implement nursing standards through the development of committees and pre-developed continuing education.

Our committee will select 3 pilot facilities that will work with the ND Center for Nursing and our workplace culture committee to implement changes designed to improve recruitment and retention. As we are applying for grant support for this pilot project, there is no cost during this first year.

In exchange for helping us test out our new program, pilot facilities will receive a planning toolkit, customized baseline and end-of-year data collection, analysis and reporting, technical assistance through Zoom calls, workplace culture resources, free continuing education for all nursing staff including NDBON contact hours, publicity on the ND Center for Nursing and a feature story recognizing your facility. Your nursing leadership staff will also receive an invitation to attend a retreat following the pilot period to attend a retreat to finalize the program prior to full launch. This pilot program has received IRB approval through the University of North Dakota.  Selected pilot employers will receive more information about the research and ethics process of this pilot study.

We know that you will have a lot of questions about how participating will work for your health care facility.  We are hosting a webinar to provide more information about the pilot program and to answer questions from those facilities that are interested.
