Listing and annotation: Nitrogen—oil-free grades
Use: As a natural non-agricultural product allowed as an ingredient/processing aid in or on processed products labeled as "organic" or "made with (specified organic ingredients/food groups)".
Common applications: Blanket or purge to preclude oxygen during processing, storage and packaging. Keeps cans rigid in still juice. Excludes oxygen from sealed containers. Used in flash freezing of foods because liquid N2 involves shorter freezing time than conventional deep freeze, thus preserving quality and reducing bacterial growth and cell damage.
