To foster a more inclusive conference environment, we are creating spaces for attendees to build community, forge connections, network, and exchange ideas in more informal settings. These spaces will be designed and led by attendees themselves, providing opportunities for groups to meet and discuss topics of shared interest, with the aim of establishing ongoing in-person and virtual connections. Group leaders will facilitate these discussions to ensure they are active, productive, inclusive, and informative. All conference attendees are encouraged to participate.

Affinity Groups offer a dedicated space for attendees who share common identities to connect with others who understand their lived experiences. This in-person opportunity is designed to:
  • Provide a supportive environment where attendees with shared identities can connect, uplift one another, and exchange insights on navigating institutions as members of systematically marginalized groups.
  • Create safe spaces where individuals can be their authentic selves without fear.
  • Empower attendees to organize and advocate for change within the BIT profession.
Please note that you do not need to possess a specific identity characteristic to join any group. All attendees are welcome to participate, including those who wish to join as allies.

Community Groups are resource groups aimed at helping professionals in the BIT field engage in peer-to-peer exchanges on current issues and ideas. This in-person opportunity is designed to:
  • Provide a forum for discussing challenges within the BIT field.
  • Facilitate networking opportunities, including job prospects.
Enhance peer support among professionals with similar roles.
These in-person opportunities will take place at our annual conference in Palm Beach, FL.

Please complete this survey by October 15 to help NABITA determine which groups should be offered at the conference.
