2025 FLARE Election Ballot and Bylaws Changes

We are electing four officers and three at-large board members. There is a write-in option for each position. The bylaws state that the vice president succeeds the president, but our practice is to affirm that position and remind members of who is in the line of succession. Jeanne Wolfson is exercising her option to run for a second three-year at-large board position, and Kathleen Spennrath is exercising her option to run for a second two-year term as Treasurer. There are three bylaws changes that also require approval.
1.President
2.Vice President
3.Secretary
4.Treasurer
5.Member At Large
6.Member at Large
7.Member at Large
8.Article 3, Section 2, C: Add the sentence: The Immediate Past President will chair the Nominating Committee for the duration of their term.
Interpretative Statement: Most nonprofit organizations have their immediate past president chair the Nominating Committee for the duration of their service.
9.Article 5, Section 2, Point #1:
Change the sentence: "Create a call for nominations and self-nominations within six months of the election" to "Create a call for nominations and self-nominations within three months of the election."
Interpretive Statement: The past few election cycles have demonstrated that election business can be conducted in three months. Rather than starting the election process in April, our efforts would commence in July, at a time when people have a better grasp of their responsibilities in the next year.
10.Article II, Section 2, A.1. lines 6-7
Strike from the second to the last and the last sentence: "if and when one is published. Individual members are eligible to hold offices and chair positions."
The sentence will now read: Individual members have access to membership lists and contacts, to discounted registration for Association conferences and events, and access to an online journal.
Interpretive Statement: This brings the language up-to-date since a journal is being published starting in 2026 and the last sentence is repetitive of the first.
