Rural Math Innovation Network (RMIN) Interest Survey

The Rural Math Innovation Network (RMIN) is expanding and we are looking for innovative, rural Virginia mathematics educators to join us!

What is RMIN?

The Rural Math Innovation Network (RMIN) is is a virtual networked improvement community for rural Virginia educators. RMIN is a four-year Investing in Innovation grant project funded through the USED and is currently in a fifth-year extension period. During the first four years of the project, RMIN teachers incorporated growth mindset, self-efficacy, and real-world applications into their instruction. During this fifth-year expansion period, network teachers are using peer-to-peer collaboration to identify and solve their own problems of practice with a current focus on improving instruction and increasing student engagement in virtual environments. Joining the network is free and does not require a specific time commitment. The network is open to rural Virginia middle and high school math teachers. We want to assist network members not only with improving student learning but with making teaching easier during these challenging times.

Benefits of Joining the Network

Improved Connectedness: Participants will be connected with a network of peers to share new, innovative techniques to better meet students' learning needs.

Improved Practice: Participants will collaborate and engage with peers statewide to uncover and implement best instructional practices.

Improved Academic Rigor: Participants will improve rigor through expanding teacher toolkits to include cutting-edge mathematical resources.

RMIN Community:  Network participants will gain access to the RMIN Community. A place to engage in peer discussions, view mini-trainings for educational technologies/tools, access ready-made instructional resources, and stay up to date on best educational practices.

RMIN Facebook Group: The Rural Math Innovation Network Facebook Group is a place for connecting and interacting with like-minded peers to share ideas, resources, best practices, and experiences.

Technologies/Tools for your Classroom: Contingent upon the degree of engagement, network teachers are eligible to receive up to $1,000 in technologies/tools to use in their classrooms to improve instruction and increase student engagement. There are many ways that teachers can engage in the network including:

-Participating in monthly interactive virtual meetings

-Engaging in the RMIN Community through discussion forums

-Interacting in the Rural Math Innovation Network Facebook group

-Taking part in the Rural Math Innovation Network Twitter chats

-Sharing resources with the RMIN Community

-Providing mini-trainings to network teachers on technologies, tools, or best practices.
