Riverside Avondale Preservation Awards 2019

Riverside Avondale Preservation is pleased to honor individuals, organizations and businesses within our historic district that exemplify outstanding achievement in historic preservation and the welcoming and inclusive nature of our neighborhoods.

Judges will review each nomination with an eye toward how the nominee reflected RAP’s Core Principles:

Preserving and promoting the historic fabric.
Supporting vibrant, independent, local businesses.
Supporting quality of life improvements.
Honoring our community.
Promoting respectful, mutually-beneficial relationships.

Nomination Deadline Date: Friday, February 1, 2019 at 5:00 pm. Award recipients will be announced during our Riverside Avondale Preservation Annual Meeting on February 21, 2019.

All nominees should reside or work in the Riverside Avondale Historic District

Architectural Preservation - rehabilitation and restoration of single or multi-family home, or a business location, following City of Jacksonville Historic Preservation Guidelines.

Architectural Adaptive Reuse - adapting structure used for another purpose.

Best New Construction - using building materials and design to enhance the historic district and create a positive influence on its surrounding.

Good Neighbor Award - a deed or instance where one neighbor went out of their way to assist a resident. Nominations for individuals and businesses are welcome.

Stewardship Award - awarded to owners who, over time, preserve our history though significant care of their historic structures.

Home Craftsman Award - awarded to a single, small project, that has contributed to beautifying the neighborhood. Nominations for individuals and contractors are welcome.

Business Craftsman Award - awarded to a single, small project, that has contributed to beautifying the neighborhood. Nominations for individuals and contractors are welcome.

RAP Perservation Award - presented to an individual or group who, through persistence and sustained activity, has preserved, promoted, advocated and celebrated our historic fabric and unique character.

The RAP Award of Merit - if you have a person, business or project that does not fit into one of the above categories, but should be recognized for its contribution to the historic neighborhood, please nominate that person, business or project in this category.
