Superintendent’s Introduction

Fort Sumner Municipal Schools has a long tradition of serving this community with pride. Our school reflects the values that make rural communities strong—hard work, high expectations, community involvement, and a commitment to helping our young people succeed both in the classroom and beyond it. Our students have consistently demonstrated success in academics, athletics, agriculture, career and technical education, and the fine arts. As a small rural district, we must also be thoughtful stewards of our resources, ensuring that the programs we offer are sustainable and continue to serve the greatest number of students possible.
This survey is intended to gather thoughtful input from parents, students, staff, and community members as we begin planning for the 2026–2027 school year. Your feedback will help guide administrative recommendations to the Fort Sumner School Board regarding the school calendar, academic programming, athletics, student opportunities, and other priorities for our district. Our goal is to build upon the strengths that already exist in Fort Sumner while continuing to provide opportunities that prepare our students for success after graduation.
Thank you for taking the time to share your perspective and for your continued support of Fort Sumner Schools and our students.
Sincerely,
Matt Moyer
Superintendent
