Become a local history detective investigating Morecambe Bay's heritage!

Thank you for expressing an interest in the work of Morecambe Bay Partnership. We are looking for volunteers to learn how to and help collect and investigate historical and archaeological information about seven intriguing heritage sites around Morecambe Bay:

Walney Island (WW1/WW2 Defence sites, Nr. Barrow)
Birkrigg Common (Nr Ulverston)
Kirkhead Tower (Kents Bank)
Hampsfell Hospice (Grange-over-Sands)
Jenny Brown's Point (Silverdale)
Warton Crag (Warton)
Cockerham Observation Tower (Cockerham)

Would you enjoy the opportunity to learn where to look and how to access historical records and hidden documentary evidence?
We are offering you the chance to build your own local history research skills, whilst helping us to gain a better understanding of these important sites.

We invite you to join a series of workshops which will each last 2-3 hours and will include class-based sessions, field trips and visits to Record Offices and Archives. There will be 4-6 sessions per site, resulting in fully researched and documented reports for each of the seven sites.

Are you interested in joining us?

Please register your interest by completing this survey so we can organise sessions to meet volunteer requirements (as practical).
