Introduction

Thank you for taking part in the Global Survey of the Living Conditions of Rural Women.  This type of survey was first undertaken by Associated Country Women of the World in 1935. We know that the voices of rural women are the hardest to hear, and we want to change this.  The data from this survey will be published, presented to policy-makers around the world, and shared with participating Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs)

Please try and answer every question in the survey – it should take you around 25 minutes. Some of the questions presented are very personal, and we understand that you may not wish to answer them. If you are uncomfortable, or would prefer not to answer one, you can skip a question. The questions here are intended to give us a clear understanding of how you view your living conditions, so your honesty is appreciated and your opinions are considered valid.

This survey has been examined by professionals and academics for quality control, and your data and answers will be kept confidentially and anonymously throughout this process. We will not ask for your name or address at any time. If you do not wish to complete the survey, you may stop at any time.  If you are happy to proceed, please read the following statement on consent, and begin answering questions.

Informed Consent:  I confirm that I understand why this survey is being conducted, and that I am taking part voluntarily. I understand that I can choose not to complete the survey, and that if I do take part, my rights to anonymity and confidentiality will be respected.

Thank you very much for taking the time to complete the survey – your input is crucial to ensuring that the voice of your community is heard around the world. If you would like to read more about the survey, please visit www.ifrw.org.uk
