2017 Green Sports Alliance Innovators of the Year Awards Application |
The Green Sports Alliance leverages the cultural and market influence of sports to promote healthy, sustainable communities where we live and play. We do so by inspiring sports leagues, teams, venues, their partners, and millions of fans to embrace energy and water efficiency; renewable energy; sustainable food; responsible procurement; socially responsible practices; and other environmentally preferable actions.
Innovators of the Year Awards
In 2016, the Green Sports Alliance presented the inaugural Innovators of the Year awards to seven sports teams and venues. This year's award recognizes an organization or individual that has demonstrated excellence & innovation in environmental and social stewardship, in the world of sports.
Innovators of the Year truly embody sports greening across their organization and operations, implementing projects that not only reduce environmental impact but encourage fans, athletes, and community stakeholders to do the same.
Awards Criteria
This year, the Green Sports Alliance Summit theme, Play Greener™: Engaging Fans, Athletes, and Communities, focus on mobilizing our members and partners to bring about positive environmental and social impact across their fan-base and surrounding communities. As such, applicants or nominees will be assessed on how well they embody this theme based on the following areas:
- Environmental Impact
- Creativity and Ingenuity
- Engagement with fans, athletes, and/or community
To be eligible for this award, applicants must describe an initiative or project that supports the mission of the Green Sports Alliance. Any organization or individual may submit an application or nomination for an initiative or project that was implemented in 2016-2017.
Selection Process
Completed applications will be reviewed by the Green Sports Alliance Awards Committee. Winners will be contacted directly by Green Sports Alliance Staff for next steps and recognition details.
