What is the purpose of a strategic plan?

A strategic plan acts as a roadmap for an organization, outlining its goals and how it will achieve them. Here are some of its key purposes:
  • Set Direction and Priorities: It establishes a clear vision for the future of the organization, outlining its desired end state. This gives everyone a shared understanding of where the organization is headed and helps prioritize efforts towards achieving that vision.
  • Improve Decision Making: By considering the bigger picture, a strategic plan helps make informed choices about resource allocation, investments, and day-to-day operations.
  • Align Stakeholders: The planning process often involves participation from various stakeholders, fostering a sense of ownership and buy-in for the chosen strategy.

Why are we asking for your opinion?

Public feedback for a strategic plan implementation typically focuses on two main aspects: gauging public perception of the plan itself and gathering insights on its practical execution. Here's a breakdown of what kind of input we are looking for:

Feedback on the Strategic Plan:
  • Relevance and Comprehensiveness: Does the plan address the key issues and challenges faced by the public?
  • Clarity and Communication: Is the plan easy to understand? Are the goals clearly defined?
  • Feasibility and Prioritization: Do the goals seem achievable with the allocated resources? Are the priorities aligned with public needs?
Feedback on Implementation:
  • Potential Impact: How will the plan's implementation affect the public? Are there any concerns or potential negative consequences?
  • Engagement and Transparency: How can the public be involved in monitoring progress and holding leadership accountable?
  • Communication Strategy: Is there a clear plan for keeping the public informed about the implementation process?
Your feedback on these aspects helps us to ensure that our strategic plan is not only well-designed but also has wider public support. We hope that your support will not only lead to a more effective implementation process but also to a greater chance of achieving the desired outcomes.
What to expect during the survey

We have identified six strategic priorities and developed strategies to implement or improve those priority areas. For each area, we will ask three questions:
  • On a scale from 1 to 10 how much do you agree or disagree with the strategic priority?
  • Does this priority cover the community's needs?
  • What would you add or remove?
At the end of the survey, there will be three more questions regarding our vision, mission, and values, as well as room for additional feedback.
