Introduction

Capacity Building is the process of developing individual and organisational competencies and capabilities that contribute to sustainability and effectiveness. It is intended to help organisations to increase the knowledge and skills needed to effectively plan, manage and sustain their work.

The Australian Environmental Grantmakers Network is undertaking this survey in environment, food and community organisations to identify the capacity building needs of individuals, organisations, and the broader movement.
The purpose of this survey is to:
  • Help food and community organisations themselves understand their own capacity building needs,
  • Identify the most effective capacity building initiatives to help organisations achieve their missions and to build movements,
  • Provide information to inform philanthropists on the capacity building needs of individuals, organisations, and the broader food movement, and
  • Identify high priority capacity building needs which could be fulfilled through a collaborative philanthropic response.

This survey looks at three areas of capacity building: individual skills, knowledge and development; organisational development, and finally, whole movement capacity building. Hence, the survey is in four parts:
  1. Information about your organisation
  2. Individual Leadership
  3. Organisational Development and Sustainability
  4. Movement Development

The survey takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. Thank you for taking the time to complete it.
