Course Information

Many nonprofits find themselves with homogeneous boards.  Black and brown-led organizations often have difficulty attracting white board members and many white-led boards struggle to welcome and include people of color.  Board diversity is essential to effective execution of mission and strategy.

VoluteerConnect's BoardConnect program is inviting applicants for a pilot program focussing on specialized training to support enhanced diversity on nonprofit boards. The goal of the program is to train individuals with an interest in serving on boards, and willing to partner with selected nonprofits who have expressed a need to increase the diversity on their boards.

Topics will include board member Governance, Navigating Diversity and Inclusion,  Fiduciary Responsibilities,  Fundraising and Legal Issues.   These courses will prepare the participant to fully engage as a member of a nonprofit Board of Trustees. Attendance is highly recommended at all the training sessions to fully benefit from the program as the curriculum is cumulative.  Participants will attend a Meet and Greet Nonprofit Fair to facilitate introductions to a variety of area nonprofits.
Course fee:  $400

Limited scholarships are available for qualifying participants.
