Though we've shortened our camp season due to COVID-19, we are still planning on offering a summer writing camp experience here in Boise, and we would love your help!
SUMMER WRITING CAMPS are week-long writing workshops for Idaho kids in grades 3-12. Each camp is led by a professional writer who designs camp curriculum based on creative writing enrichment in their genre of expertise: poetry, fiction, memoir, journalism, and plays. Through active, imaginative writing experiences, Cabin camps engage students in the power of reading and writing as lifelong practice.
VOLUNTEER TEACHING ASSISTANTS are a big part of the success of writing camp. Teaching assistants work directly with Cabin writing students and teaching writers.
As a TEACHING ASSISTANT, YOUR JOB IS TO HELP THE TEACHING-WRITER in multiple ways. It’s the teaching-writer’s job to ask you for help with specific tasks. It’s your job to support students and teaching writer with whatever they need to write awesome work (and have fun doing it). Duties can include: keeping track of supplies, participating in games and lessons, accompanying the teaching writer and campers on field trips, making photocopies, taking attendance, encouraging students and being an all-around good role model.
