1.Help Us Name Whiteville’s New Downtown Park!
The City of Whiteville is transforming the former Lewis Smith Shopping Center into a vibrant new public park and community space in the heart of downtown.
We’ve narrowed down a list of potential names, and now we want your input!
Please vote for your favorite name from the options below.
Please place your vote before Monday September 29, 2025. We will announce the name of the new park at the groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday October 7, 2025.
We have been able to obtain grant money to be able to start this park, as well as money from very generous donors, however we are still need funding to reach our end goal. Heart of Whiteville Downtown Park (Represents the park’s location in the center of the city and its importance as a new
landmark for civic life, events, and everyday enjoyment.)

Vineland Park (With shaded paths, lush green spaces, and nods to our cultural past woven throughout the landscape, Vineland Park will be more than just a park—it will be a destination rooted in our identity.

Madison Street Park (the name speaks for itself, located right on Madison Street, this new park will offer a refreshing blend of nature and urban life, providing a much-needed place to gather, unwind, and enjoy the outdoors.)
