Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Foster team at Seattle Humane!

This application is for potential Foster Parents who are interested in small mammals, such as domestic rabbits, rats, guinea pigs, and chinchillas.

Please note that the number of small critters we have in our care can be inconsistent, and Small Animal Foster Parents may end up waiting a while before we have pets available for foster. By applying now, you can receive all the required training in advance so you are ready to start as soon as a foster pet becomes available.

Please complete the following application to tell us more about yourself and the type of volunteer experience you're looking for. We want you to be happy with your volunteer experience, and your answers on this application will be used to help us match you with appropriate opportunities.

Please submit just one application per household.
If there are multiple adults in your home who would like to be involved in fostering, please select just one person to be the Primary Foster Parent for your household. The Primary Foster Parent will be the main point of contact for our staff and responsible for conveying foster information to other members of the home. You may designate a secondary foster parent to attend appointments or communicate with staff if the Primary Foster Parent is unavailable. All members of the household are welcome to participate in the care of foster pets while they are in your home.

Please allow a few business days for staff to review your application and respond.

If you have any questions in the meantime, please feel free to reach out to us at

Volunteer openings are filled at the discretion of Seattle Humane staff for qualified applicants, and availability is subject to change at any time. Acceptance into Seattle Humane's Foster program is dependent on completion of our New Volunteer Orientation training materials, and signing of volunteer agreements and waivers.
