Parking Lot
Purpose

The City of Hampton's Community Engagement team is seeking community feedback to help guide the future design of the Virginia State School (VSS) Park.

This survey presents two conceptual park designs that take different approaches to entrances, walking paths, gathering spaces, historic interpretation, recreation, and future park amenities. Rather than selecting one concept in its entirety, participants will have the opportunity to identify specific elements and components they prefer from each design.

The purpose of this survey is to better understand how residents, neighbors, alumni, and future park users are most likely to use the space, which design elements stand out for positive reasons, and which features create the strongest sense of connection to the future park. Your feedback will help inform how the initial $1.5 million investment is prioritized and identify community priorities for future phases as additional funding becomes available.

Commitment
  • The survey takes approximately 5–7 minutes to complete.
  • Most questions are multiple choice, ranking, or preference-based.
  • There are no right or wrong answers.
We encourage you not to overthink your responses. In many cases, your first impression or gut instinct is the most valuable feedback.
You may be asked to compare individual elements from both concepts, including entrances, walking paths, gathering spaces, and future amenities.

Contact information is requested at the end of the survey to help us better understand who participated and to provide future project updates.
