United Nations Association of the United States of America

In accordance with the Standing Operating Procedures of the UNA-USA, an election to the National Council due to a vacancy in the New England Region has been scheduled.  The nominations application for a 2017-2018 New England Regional Representative to the National Council is open until January 10, 2017.

Candidates may nominate themselves or be nominated by a Chapter or individual member. Active chapter leadership is an essential qualification for effective National Council participation, as is experience in advocacy, communication or community involvement.

All candidates should be familiar with the primary responsibilities of Regional Representatives and agree to participate in regular National Council conference calls as well as two yearly in-person meetings, and to serving as an intermediary between their Regions and the national leadership in UNA-USA, the Better World Campaign and the UN Foundation.

After Jan.10, the Nominating Committee of the National Council will certify all candidates and open voting between Jan. 15 and January 25 when each Chapter will vote for Regional Representatives on the National Council. An announcement of the elected representative will be made by February 1, 2017.

This election is in accordance with the UNA-USA Standing Operating Procedures for filling a vacancy. This vacancy is due to the passing of UNA-USA National Council New England Regional Representative Joyce Rawitscher of Connecticut. We extend our deepest sympathy to her family, the members of her chapter and the New England Region.

We hope you will consider serving UNA-USA as a Regional Representative or will nominate a colleague to serve and continue the work to which she and so many of us are dedicated.   For more information regarding the requirements, please visit the UNA-USA website or contact us at nominations@unausa.org.

Sincerely,

Nelda Reid, Chair, UNA-USA Nominating Committee
Teta Banks, Chair, UNA-USA
