Expression of Interest Form for Individual Depth Interviews

Welcome

Thank you for considering expressing interest in taking part in our research into digital services into the future. We will be interviewing individuals from 20 Students’ Unions to understand current and future use of digital tools in Students’ Unions and how well digital tools currently meet Students’ Union strategic objectives. Fieldwork will take place in the Weeks Commencing 17th and 24th June, and we are looking for a diverse representation of Students’ Unions in Further and Higher Education.

Before we ask you to express interest; we welcome all types of respondents and are aware that not everyone has participated in qualitative research before. In this research, an individual depth interview is where a Market Research Society qualified researcher commissioned by OneVoice Digital meets with you over Teams at a mutually convenient time and asks you to discuss some key topics as you see them, and to give your opinions on particular issues. You do not have to answer any questions that you don’t wish to and can simply move on. Research is conducted in accordance with the Market Research Society Code of Conduct, which you can read about, or watch a video about here: https://www.mrs.org.uk/standards/code-of-conduct

Respondents are provided with a brief description of the session beforehand, and receive a consent form too, so that you know how your data is going to be treated and can give your permission. You can also let the interviewer know of any accessibility needs you have. The depth interviews will last approximately 45 minutes, and you will be given the option of receiving a £50 amazon voucher, or for OneVoice Digital to make a £50 donation to their chosen charity on your behalf when you have taken part, to thank you for your time.

Whilst your responses will be kept confidential, and you will never be made personally identifiable in any reporting, you will not be anonymous to the interviewer, as they will need your contact details to be able to invite you to the interview, and they will be speaking to you on Teams.

In these interviews, respondents will be asked about current use of digital tools in students’ Unions, and what role, if any, they play in meeting your Students’ Union’s strategic aims. Respondents will also be provided with some early findings from a related online survey of Students’ Unions and these will be discussed, along with some scenario testing of how different services and features might meet the needs of their Union in the future. The information from this research will be used by OneVoice Digital and NUS Charity; OneVoice Digital will use these findings in their digital strategies and digital support for Students’ Unions, and NUS Charity will use the findings to ensure that membership services are fit for purpose and future facing.

If you’d like to express an interest in these focus groups, please can you share your details with us by answering a few questions. Please note that even if you have answered one of the following questions in the associated online survey, we have no way of linking those answers with your responses below – the survey is anonymous.
