Kendal Town Council have been working with landscape architects, Woolerton Dodwell Associates, and park owners, South Lakeland District Council, to develop a scheme of improvements for Abbot Hall Park in Kendal.

The proposed works are part of a larger three year programme, in conjunction with other public bodies, to improve parks and public open spaces across the town.

Our Proposals

Kendal Town Council has allocated funds to improve Abbot Hall Park with the aim to support greater biodiversity, raise horticultural standards and make it a more comfortable place to visit. The park was recently described by Britain in Bloom judges as “somewhat tired” and our improvements will help to make the park more vibrant, interesting and colourful.

The main areas of improvement are:

• creation of several new planting beds on currently grassed areas
• regeneration of existing shrub beds replacing tired shrubs with perennial plantings
• reduction in the height of the hedge surrounding the playground to open up a view of the river
• installation of four new seats

Have Your Say

We now want to hear what you think of our proposals for Abbot Hall and invite your views and opinions which we will use to firm up the improvements so that they are relevant to people that use the park.

Please take a few moments to give us your comments:

* 1. What do you think of the plans?

* 2. Are there any suggestions you would make to improve the plans?
