Introduction

It was a trying time for many fitness professionals and frustrated many gym members during the Covid 19 epidemic, especially when the gyms were shut due to social distancing efforts by the local government.

This survey is to gather information to better understand how we can build a sustainable gym concept that can allow trainers to continue with their work, and members to workout in the new format for gyms. This concept aims to be operational even if there would be another outbreak of epidemic similar in nature with the Covid-19.

As we live in a time where globalisation and human movements is at its highest. Any virus outbreak could create havoc to the entire world as we have just witnessed with the case of Covid-19. Will this pandemic ever be over and is everything going to be back to normal? No one can really tell.

Hi. My name is Troy. I am a freelance fitness trainer, and my work is tied closely to the gym. The epidemic has impacted my work as much as other fitness trainers. I began to think about new ways we could do our work sustainably.

Whether you use the gym on your own, or train with a fitness trainer, it would be impractical for many of us to have a gym at home, especially for a city state like Singapore, where space constraint places a challenge for most of us. Besides financial reasons.

I therefore implore you to participate in the following survey if you are passionate about the gym like myself.

(We understand that many gym charges additional joining fees besides the monthly or bi-weekly membership. Ignoring that to make calculations simple. Divide your monthly fees with the number of visits averagely per month. Look out for months that you are absent at the gym but continues paying the monthly dues. E.g. You visit the gym approx 11 times a month, but you are on holiday every December. That means that your average visit to the gym is 10 times a month. You are currently paying $100 each month for your membership. Your cost per visit is therefore $10.)
