Training. Funding. Community Impact.

ExxonMobil is partnering with the Southeast Texas Nonprofit Development Center to offer seed funding of up to $5,000 each to four nonprofit STARTUP organizations committed to serving the Charlton-Pollard and/or South Park communities in Southeast Texas.

If selected, participants must attend a four-part training series and obtain their 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status by Fall 2025 to be eligible for funding. *Previously established nonprofits will not be considered.

Eligibility Criteria
  • Must serve residents in Charlton-Pollard and/or South Park neighborhoods
  • Must focus on community needs (health, wellness, education, employment, youth)
  • Must commit to attending the full training series
  • Must obtain 501(c)(3) status by October 2025
  • Must be available for monthly training sessions held between the hours of 9 AM - 5 PM

Training Series Schedule (Starting July 2025)

All sessions are 90-minutes and will be held at the Southeast Texas Nonprofit Development Center.

  1. Board Governance
    • Forming bylaws and articles of incorporation
    • Developing your first board of directors
    • Creating foundational policies and procedures (conflict of interest, document retention, etc.)
  2. Starting a Nonprofit
    • Steps to incorporation
    • Applying for 501(c)(3) tax exemption
    • State and federal compliance
  3. Grant Writing Basics
    • Introduction to proposal writing
    • Accessing and using the Foundation Directory Online
    • Preparing budgets and logic models
  4. Public Engagement for Nonprofits
    • Building awareness in your community
    • Effective communications and outreach strategies
    • Building public trust and partnerships
