DEFA’s Hills, Forests and Glens extend across more than 28,000 acres and include some of the Island’s most stunning scenery and special places receiving an estimated 850,000 visits per annum. We are working to protect our landscapes, whilst sensitively and sustainably developing amenity and recreation for the benefit of the local community and tourists alike.

This is the third year of running DEFA’s Annual Outdoor Visitor Survey. The first two surveys considered visits to the Department’s Manx National Glens and Forests.  This year we are considering off road mountain biking which continues to grow in popularity across the Island.  DEFA has partnered other Departments and organisations in designing the survey including ; Department for Enterprise, Department of Infrastructure and Manx Sport and Recreation.

The feedback will assist Isle of Man Government in a number of areas including; the future management of the mountain bike trail network, development of rider education and working with volunteer trail builders.

The survey is not just open to avid off-road mountain bikers and anyone can simply add their comments and suggestions regarding the activity at the end of the survey.

Thank you for taking part.
