Introduction

It was a trying time for many fitness professionals who worked at the gym during the Covid 19 epidemic especially when the gyms were shut due to social distancing efforts by the local government.

This survey is to gather information to better understand how we can build a sustainable gym concept that can allow trainers to continue with their work in the new normal. This concept aims to be operational even if there would be another outbreak of epidemic similar in nature with the Covid-19.

As we live in a time where globalisation and human movements is at its highest. Any virus outbreak could create havoc to the entire world as we have just witnessed with the case of Covid-19. Will this pandemic ever be over and is everything going to be back to normal? No one can tell.

Hi. My name is Troy. I am a freelance trainer, and my work is tied closely to the gym. The epidemic has impacted my work as much as other fitness trainers. I began to think about new ways we could do our work sustainably.

Therefore, I would appreciate your kind participation in the following survey if you are a personal trainer like myself.

Question Title

* 1. How many of your clients are you able to train outside of the gym?

Question Title

* 2. Select 3 gym equipment that you find most useful for training your clients at the gym.

Question Title

* 3. Name any other training  equipments that you find it essential for your clients. You use them to train your clients at your current gym.

Question Title

* 4. Name any other training equipments that you would need for your clients but they are not available at your current gym.

Question Title

* 5. How did you overcome the absence of this equipment in Q4?

Question Title

* 6. Do you prefer to collect payments directly from your client, and pay your gym a fee for usuage, or do you prefer not to deal with your clients directly regards to payment so that you could maintain a greater professional distance.

Question Title

* 7. How much are you paying your gym for each client that you train?

Eg 1. I do not get a basic pay. I get approx 50% of the training package which the gym sells. The gym sells to my clients from $70-$80 per session in different package offerings. In other words, I pay the gym about $35-$40 for each client that I train.

Eg 2. I get a basic pay package of $1500. I get approx 20% of the training package which the gym sells. The gym sells to my clients from $70-$80 per session in different package offerings. Base on this, I get paid about $14-$16 per session. I have an average of 100 training sessions per month. Dividing my basic pay of $1500 with 100 sessions, I am paid $15 more for each of the 100 sessions on top of $14-$16. In total, I get paid approx. $29-$31 for each training session. Therefore, I pay the gym between $41 ($70 - $29) - $49 ($80 - $31) for each session I conduct with a client in this scenario.
