Taxi drivers, private hire operators, and taxi users are invited to complete the following survey about upcoming changes to taxi licensing in Westmorland and Furness.

The new Taxi Licensing Policy proposed by the Council aims to ensure consistently high standards of taxi services across the area so that residents, workers, and visitors can expect a safe, professional, and reliable service wherever they travel.

This survey is a part of a six-week community conversation launched by the Council to understand taxi drivers and operators views on the policy, how the proposed changes may affect drivers and what they feel would be a reasonable timeframe for introducing new standards. It will also help the Council understand taxi users’ experiences and what is most important to them.

The feedback shared will presented as a part of a report to Cabinet in January 2025. If the new Taxi Licensing Policy is approved, it will come into effect from April 2026.

Before completing the survey, please read the Council’s proposed Taxi Licensing Policy.

The survey closes on Sunday 23 November 2025.
