Kensington Symphony Orchestra Sponsored Play

Sunday 29th April 2018, Westfield London (Shepherd’s Bush)

Come and join the Chorus and help raise money for charity

Following great success at Westfield London (Shepherd’s Bush) in 2013 and 2015, which together raised over £30,000 for War Child. Kensington Symphony Orchestra will return to Westfield on Sunday 29th April 2018 for another Sponsored Play, the 16th in a series that started in 1989.

The format is simple: for 6 hours, between 70 and 100 musicians from KSO will perform a continuous concert in front of Westfield’s shopping crowds, conducted by more than 25 volunteers from any walk of life, each of whom has donated money in exchange for their few minutes of fame on the podium. We are very grateful to Westfield London, which provides great support for the event so that all the proceeds can go to charity.

The money raised from sponsorship and donations on the day will go mainly to two charities: at least 70% (usually around 85%) will be split between War Child, ( a small international charity currently working to protect children from the brutal effects of war and its consequences in Afghanistan, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Iraq, Syria and Uganda; and The Kensington and Chelsea Foundation (, to support them in providing help for those who lived in Grenfell Tower, others directly affected and the local community. The balance goes to KSO itself, which uses the money to support our events and our work with Pimlico Academy.

About the Flash Chorus
During the afternoon we have three pieces which require a chorus - Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves from Verdi's Nabucco, the Anvil Chorus from Il Trovatore, and the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's Messiah - and invite you to come and sing, and give our volunteer conductors something to conduct!

You'll be required from about 2:15pm to 3.15pm and need to be able to sight-sing the music. We need sopranos (I & II), altos, tenors (I & II) and basses. You will need to bring along your own copies of the music - files to download and print will be sent in your confirmation email.

If you'd like to make a donation to the charity, you can do so online here
