A host of problems has been discovered at the city’s aging pool. Built in 1974, the pool has served the community well, but the cost of preparing the pool to host swimmers for the summer continues to increase each year. Plumbing leaks under the deck have caused heaving cement and pool skimmers, hollow areas under the decking and huge water losses. The city recognizes that it cannot continue to funnel money into the pool budget as it becomes more dilapidated and continues to demand hundreds of thousands of gallons of water each pool season.
