2026 Board Nominations: 4 Board Directors

The 2026 nominating process for BMES Board members is as follows:
  1. In this formal call for nominations, we encourage all interested parties that meet the criteria to complete the nomination form, including attesting to their willingness to serve on the Board. Nominees with contributions within the setting of the university, industry, medical center, business, or government will be considered. We encourage nominations representing the diversity of our community, including age, gender, ethnicity, race, disabilities, sexual orientation, and geography. Members of the Nominating Committee are ineligible to be nominated.
  2. Self-nominations are encouraged, or you may wish to nominate a colleague. All nominees will be contacted to confirm their willingness to participate in the process, and to complete the documents that will allow the Nominating Committee to create a strong ballot.
  3. The Nominating Committee shall convene and review submissions, selecting the top candidates based on the nominee’s
    • Qualifications for the criteria listed in the nomination form,
    • Expertise and background, and
    • Platform
  4. Board Member nominees will be approved by a quorum of the nominating committee
  5. The Executive Committee will approve the final ballot that will be presented to the membership for a vote
Qualifications for Board Director (Industry/Government)

Effective work in BMES, such as a track or session chair, committee member, abstract reviewer, etc.
Cumulative BMES membership for two or more years.
Attendance at two or more BMES Annual Meetings. Alternatively, attendance at one BMES Annual Meeting PLUS one of the following:

Demonstrable experience representing the field of BME in your profession.
OR
A BME-related leadership role at your institution/company.
Having the ability to attend two in-person meetings each year and to participate in at least three to five teleconferences and having time to fulfill the responsibilities assigned to them.

Qualifications for Board Director (Academia)

Effective work in BMES, such as a track or session chair, committee member, abstract reviewer, etc.
Cumulative BMES membership for 3 or more years.
Attendance at three or more BMES Annual Meetings. Alternatively, attendance at two or more BMES Annual Meeting PLUS one of the following:

Demonstrable experience representing the field of BME in your profession.
OR
A BME-related leadership role at your institution/company.
Having the ability to attend two in-person meetings each year and to participate in at least three to five teleconferences and having time to fulfill the responsibilities assigned to them.
