About The Awards

Individual, Business, and Employer Access Awards recognize an individual or a business in the Spokane Metropolitan area for effectively initiating, establishing, and/or supporting services or programs for people with disabilities. All awards recognize sustained positive impact on the quality of life of people with disabilities living in our community. We envision a community where the opportunities for citizens with disabilities are comparable to those of the general population.

Awards are made every year in early October, to coincide with National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). Nominations are accepted beginning in August for all award categories.

The Individual Access Award is presented to an individual who demonstrates advocacy through dedicated volunteer and/or professional advocacy and/or service initiatives and support which have made employment, health, housing, civic, cultural, recreational, or facilities and programs accessible for people with disabilities.

The Business Access Award is presented to a business that provides services or advocacy that benefits people with disabilities.

The Employer Access Award is presented to a business in the non-profit or for-profit sector who employs people with disabilities. More than one award can be presented for this category.

Nominations and supporting materials must be submitted by September 22nd 2016
