1.Secretary-Treasurer

Finance Committee, Chair: Ashwin Patel
Main characteristics/minimal requirements:
An AASP member, ideally we are open to student, early career, midcareer, and fellow status to have a diverse range of knowledge, perspective, and experience shared. It is helpful for awareness or involvement in other committees or SIGS to have organizational knowledge and strategic plan understanding as we discuss investments in the organization. Knowledge about finance and understanding of investments and expenses is a bonus.

General Responsibilities:

- Quarterly zoom meetings to discuss current financial status, approval of investments, exploration of financial growth for the organization
- Explore/review financial statements as a committee
- Review financial requests as needed
- Be available for email or on-call meetings as they may occur outside of quarterly meetings
- Assist/review newsletter statements
- Attend conference meeting in-person or call in when able
- Assist in developing ideas to maintain investments and growth in potential organizational goals

Foundation Committee, Chair Justine Vosloo
Main characteristics/minimal requirements:
The AASP Foundation’s mission is to foster and enhance AASP’s education, research, and training programs as well as fund new development and opportunities in these areas. It provides a mechanism by which individual members can give back to the association and also support the next generation of professionals so that they may fully realize their goals.

General Responsibilities:
- Active participation in email discussions surrounding grant/award nomination documents, participation in ad-hoc subcommittee tasks.
- Attendance of the Foundation committee meeting during the AASP annual conference, assuming the member is able to attend the conference

2.Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging & Justice (DEIBJ)

International Relations Committee, Chair: Karen Lo
Main characteristics/minimal requirements:
An AASP member. We are open to student, early career, midcareer, and fellow status to have a diverse range of knowledge, perspective, and experience shared. Preference will be given to those that do not hold US citizenship. Having awareness or involvement in sport psychology development in countries outside the US is a bonus. Please submit your personal statement and resume to AASP.

General Responsibilities:
- To commit to the committee and its aims and objectives, including but not limited to assisting the chair in raising the profile of IRC, working on the IRC newsletter, developing partnerships with other international sport psychology organizations and professionals, brainstorm ideas to develop campaigns designed to engage more international professionals and graduate student participation, etc.
- Members are expected to contribute to email conversations in a timely manner; all members are expected to join and actively participate in one sub-committee, and
- To attend virtual committee meetings that are held 2-3 times per year.

3.Professional Standards

Webinars/Virtual Conference Committee, Chairs: Joanna Foss & Abby Keenan

Main characteristics / minimal requirements:
-A pulse on trends and relevant topics in the field of sport and performance psychology, particularly related to the three recertification areas for CMPCs (i.e., diversity, ethics, and mentorship)
-A working knowledge of expert speakers in our field or related fields
-A professional in the sport and performance psychology field who is committed to ongoing professional development; CMPC preferred; based on the current composition of our committee, applied practitioners and researchers are preferred

General responsibilities:
-Attend and participate in virtual meetings (60-90 minutes, maximum once a month, could be as few as once a quarter); join the committee meeting at the AASP conference if attending in-person
-Respond to committee emails in a timely fashion
-Discuss data analyzed by other committee members to inform decision making on webinar and virtual conference topics
-Brainstorm speakers for webinars and virtual conferences, keeping expertise and diversity in mind
-Opportunity to serve as moderator for upcoming webinars and virtual conferences, but not required

Specific responsibilities:
-We particularly need 1-2 new members who will lead our coordination of webinars and virtual conferences, which involves organization, email etiquette, use of templates and timelines, taking initiative, interfacing with speakers and AASP, reviewing webinar and virtual conference materials created by speakers, and internal communication with other committee members

Continuing Education Committee, Chair: Lauren Tashman

The CEC is responsible for reviewing applications for webinars, workshops, virtual conferences, AASP-sponsored conferences, non-AASP-sponsored conferences, and other offerings to ensure quality offerings for AASP members looking to meet continuing education requirements for recertification. The committee also reviews the pre-conference workshops for the annual conferences to provide feedback to the group who determines which offerings will be included in the conference program.

The workload ebbs and flows based on time of year and number of applications submitted but is a fairly light workload overall. For each application, committee members review what has been provided and provide their feedback asynchronously. For general applications, they typically have two weeks to review and provide their feedback. For the AASP pre-conference workshops, there is typically a given time period for the committee to provide their feedback. Additionally, the committee meets at the annual conference, and also helps to staff the pre-conference workshops (i.e., help with taking attendance) and therefore attend them to also get the CEUs for professional development. Lastly, we occasionally ask the committee for feedback on other initiatives (ex: their perspectives and ideas on an FAQ sheet about the applications for CEUs that can be utilized to provide clarity for all about applications and the work of the CEC)

Ethics Committee, Chair: Mike Zito

Main characteristics/minimal requirements:
-Professional or Early Professional Member for 3 years preferred and in good standing with AASP.
-Had a Graduate level ethics course
-No ethical violations on record and all professional activities are in compliance with the AASP ethics code
-Strong commitment to helping AASP and its members maintain ethical behavior

General Responsibilities:
The main responsibility will be to participate in ethics education for members as well reviewing and responding to ethical complaints and requests for consultation as directed by the Chairperson. Confidentiality must be maintained on all matters that come before the ethics committee. Each member shall periodically agree to participate in writing educational material such as newsletter articles. Members need to work collaboratively and respectfully in discussing sensitive matters. Other projects will be assigned as needed.
If in attendance at the AASP annual conference, participating in the ethics committee meeting is mandatory.

The AASP Ethics committee is committed to ensuring diversity and inclusion among its members. Members representing diverse backgrounds in terms of race, ethnicity, gender, culture, training background, sexual orientation, and geographic location are encouraged to submit credentials for consideration. In particular, international (Non-US based) members are encouraged to apply.

4.Public Relations and Outreach

Web Presence Committee, Chair: Megan Byrd

Main characteristics/minimal requirements:
The aims of the WPC are to support AASP’s internet presence by: (a) making the website user-friendly and a valuable resource for external consumers (e.g., athletes, coaches, and parents), professionals, and students, and (b) increasing the visibility and credibility of AASP through the web and social media. We are looking for people who are detail-oriented, with good time management and communication skills, proficient in proofreading/editing brief written pieces, willing to network and solicit contributions from the AASP community, and understand social media best practices, especially for Youtube, Facebook, and Instagram (preferred, but not required).

General Responsibilities:
Members are expected to edit blog submissions and the AASP website for grammar and content, participate in quarterly conference calls, identify podcast episodes that feature AASP members, recruit video presenters, and support web presence-related strategic plan initiatives.

5.Awards

Master's Thesis Award Review Committee, Chair: Kathleen Mellano
Main characteristics/minimal requirements:
Members should have an earned PhD and expertise in sport and exercise psychology research, in order to effectively judge the quality of student research work. Members provide service in the spring of each year, reviewing student submissions for the award and rank ordering to determine the annual award winner. All work is done virtually (over email and via PDFs and spreadsheets); no meetings or in-person attendance is required.

Dorothy V. Harris Memorial Award Review Committee, Chair: Sheila Alicea
Main characteristics/minimal requirements:
The Dorothy V. Harris Memorial Award recognizes an AASP member, in the early stage of their professional career, who has made outstanding contributions that are both theoretical and practical. Committee members are sought with an ability to provide a balanced and impartial appraisal of the research and applied contributions of applications. It follows that an active involvement with and demonstrable expertise in both research and practice are valuable among committee members. You will be required to provide quantitative and qualitative reviews of applicant submissions, attend two meetings per year (one online and the other at the annual conference), and to be involved in the refinement of the committee's work and functioning.

6.Membership Services

Hospitality Committee, Chair: Sheila Alicea
Main characteristics/minimal requirements:
AASP Membership and ability to attend the Meet & Greet at the annual conference. Committee members will be asked to actively participate in the event programming. Additionally, in order to assist first time conference attendees, committee members should be enthusiastic about the conference and knowledgeable of the venue and conference programming

General Responsibilities:
Committee members are expected to attend the Meet & Greet event at the annual conference and to be available to assist first time attendees with questions and guidance as needed. Members are also expected to attend the annual committee meeting to debrief the event and plan for the following year. Members may be asked to respond to first time attendees’ emails/questions prior to the conference.

Nomination & Leadership Development Committee (NLDC), Chair: Melanie Poudevigne
Main characteristics/minimal requirements:
The committee seeks to meet current and future needs of the association by networking and recruiting potential volunteer AASP leaders, and by identifying award nominees from the AASP membership involved in current leadership initiatives. The committee fosters meaningful relationships with the executive team to enhance collaboration and administrative performance.

General Responsibilities:
We are looking for three new members to collaboratively implement strategic solutions for engaging AASP members in leadership opportunities, including: (1) fostering meaningful relationships with the executive team to enhance collaboration and administrative performance with the NLDC, committee chairs, SIG coordinators, and E-Board members to identify potential openings and qualified members, (2) recruiting diverse pools of candidates for E-Board elections and other leadership opportunities, and (3) helping strategize effective succession planning.

7.Student Representatives

Student Development Committee, Chairs: Emily Murphy & Deyanira Enriquez
Minimal requirements: Be a student member in good standing. Ideally have attended at least one AASP conference and AASP conference student sessions previously. Undergraduate and master's students are encouraged to apply.

General responsibilities: Develop and facilitate professional development opportunities for AASP student members  throughout the year and during the annual conference related to consulting, research, teaching, and job seeking.  Committee members are expected to respond to emails in a timely manner and be available to attend the in-person SDC committee meeting during the annual conference and up to 4 zoom meetings each year.

Youth Sport SIG
This group seeks to enhance the viability of work with young athletes.
Specifically, the Youth Sport SIG is designed to enhance research and services in the youth sports field. The aim is to benefit research in this area by engaging in an organized discussion of the future directions of youth sport psychology research.
