Volunteer Information Sessions for CWA Vancouver

Thank you for your interest in CWA Vancouver. We are currently planning our 2024 ride season. We invite back volunteers from previous years and then will have an idea of where and when we need new volunteers; many of our Pilots (bike riders) have been with us since 2001.

Please note the majority of our rides take place on weekdays during the hours of 9 am - 4 pm and we prefer Pilots (bike riders) who can dedicate themselves to once-a-week rides (3 hour shifts) to build relationships with the seniors, their families, and the care homes they live in. We look for volunteers who are active cyclists and are interested in creating conversation with the elderly. We ride at slow at 8-10km an hour and our passenger's average age is 75-100 years old; many use walkers and, many have dementia.

We suggest you sign up for an Information Session to learn about the many opportunities working with our program, the seniors, their families, and partner organizations. We meet in Leg-in-Boot Square in False Creek at the Convivial Cafe and Bakery.

Additional Information
We are small group of committed volunteers that pride ourselves in safety first, relationship building and fun. The majority of our volunteer team will be in place by April 2023 to ensure ample time for trishaw training before our busy season of riding May- October 2024. All volunteers will be required to have a Criminal Record check completed with CWA Vancouver.

Once you have signed up for one of the Information Sessions, a welcome email will be sent to you. We look forward to meeting you.
