Background Information

The four lower-tier municipalities in the County of Haliburton - Algonquin Highlands, Dysart et al, Highlands East, and Minden Hills - are conducting research into the waste management practices of the County's businesses and organizations.

Ontario is transitioning to a new Blue Box regulation starting in 2023 (with the four lower-tier municipalities in the County of Haliburton transitioning in 2024). It is vital for the lower-tier municipalities to understand the number of businesses and organizations operating in the community, how they are managing their waste, and whether they drop off recycling at municipal waste disposal sites.
