Frontenac Arch Biosphere Arts and Culture Economic Impact Survey
Frontenac Arch Biosphere Survey on Local Arts and Culture
If you are from the ‘creative sector’- an artist, musician, writer, sculptor, crafter or other- please take a moment to complete this anonymous and confidential survey. It will help communicate information about the economic impact of artists in and around the Frontenac Arch Biosphere area.
Individuals from the arts and cultural community have begun preliminary discussions to create a regional Biosphere arts group with the conclusion that there are many benefits to a biosphere-wide initiative.
We know that arts and culture make our communities more desirable places to live and work by providing inspiration and enjoyment to residents, beautifying shared public places, and strengthening the social fabric. Our distinctive landscape gives rise to a unique artistic voice. The purpose of this study is to gather data to demonstrate that the arts and culture industry is an important economic driver in our communities.
At a time when governments at all levels are making tough budget choices, the results of the study will send an important message: support for the arts does not come at the expense of economic development but rather drives a creativity-based economy and is an investment in economic well-being as well as quality of life. We hope to show that it is a growth industry which supports jobs, generates government revenue and is the cornerstone of tourism.
