The 2018 FACO Learning exchange will be a two-day (1/2 day afternoon day 1 & 1/2 day morning day 2) event focused on sharing and learning about the Wildfire Mitigation professional’s duties, tactics, successes and failures. As wildfire impacts continue to grow, a new profession is emerging. The mitigation professional must understand social dynamics, policy and politics, funding, monitoring, forestry, watershed health, conflict resolution, contracting, and the science behind behavior change, to name but a few of the skills we all need. Gone are the days, of working remotely amongst the trees - today the skills we must bring to the table are diverse and often in conflict - Policies may not align with forest health goals, residents desires may misalign with risk reduction activities, but somehow we have to work together to reduce our risk. Join professionals from across the state as we share our practices and learn some new ones.
