A Mission Statement

What drives growth in your school community?

It is important to express the core values and expectations of any community. A school mission statement is essential for student development and effective learning. School mission statements indicate the priorities and goals of a school community, and can have an incredible impact on student achievement.

The mission statement the HWDSB is:

"We empower students to learn and grow to their full potential in a diverse world."

The Board also uses the tagline:

"Curiosity. Creativity. Possibility."

Together, these statements are an expression of the goals of the Board and the manner in which these goals are hopefully achieved. The purpose of this survey is to help the School Council in developing a mission statement for the new Spring Valley community. Feel free to complete all or part of this survey. We encourage families to discuss it together. Students in many classes will be taking part in similar activities to get our students' perspective.
