    • Once per month over Zoom/Conference Call
    • May be asked to attend a State Central Committee meeting on occasion
    • The chair of the committee will provide formal report on committee quarterly at in person State Central Committee meeting.
  • Description
    • The Political and Public Policy Committee is responsible for guiding the political activities of the party. This responsibility includes recruiting and training potential Libertarian candidates to run for office in Iowa, to create and advocate for legislative policy and initiatives of the LPIA, and coordinate efforts to support candidates with ballot access across the state
  • Responsibilities of Political and Public Policy Committee
    • Candidate Recruitment
      • Leverage multiple resources to locate and recruit libertarians who has potential in running for office
      • Develop a database of elected offices and elections dates across Iowa that can be used to target races for winnability, impact, and exposure. This would also include researching openings on unelected boards and commissions where libertarian policy can have an impact
      • Responsible for engaging and training candidates to ensure they are prepared to run
    • Public Policy and Advocacy
      • Review and analyze the legislative agenda and track important legislation to determine which pieces of legislation are favorable or unfavorable to the Libertarian Party and our core principles
      • Develop a network of libertarians to develop relationships with city, county, state, and nationally elected officials and their staff.
      • Network with like minded partners to help develop legislation and lobbying efforts to promote libertarian principles in Iowa
    • Ballot Access
      • Develop a ballot access strategy that can be leveraged at all office levels to support candidates
      • Monitor legislation that impacts ballot access and keep track of filing deadlines
      • Develop training to help candidates and volunteers when petitioning for ballot access
