Nomination Submission Form

The Maryland Association of Boards of Education (MABE) Distinguished School Board Service Award is the Association’s highest honor. Inspired by the legacy of Charles W. Willis, MABE’s first full-time executive director, this award recognizes exceptional service, leadership, and impact at both the local and state levels.

Each year, one outstanding individual is selected.
Before you Begin

Please review the following requirements carefully before completing and submitting this nomination:

Narrative Requirements
  • Responses must be written in third person
  • In Part I and Part II, do not include:
    • The nominee’s name
    • School system or district
    • Any identifying details
  • Refer to the individual only as “the candidate”
  • Character and/or word limits are strictly enforced
Eligibility
  • Nominations must be submitted by a current board member
  • The nomination must have the support of a majority of the board
  • Each board may submit one nomination per year
  • Eligible candidates: Current or former members of a MABE member board
  • Ineligible candidates: Previous recipients of this award
  • Previous nominees may be resubmitted
Submission Requirements

A complete nomination includes:
  • Submission Form
  • Part I Narrative
  • Part II Narrative
Late or incomplete submissions will not be considered.

All nominations are confidential. Only the selected recipient will be announced.
