1. About the Survey and Laughter Yoga:

The 2018 TRO Conference Committee is considering running a Laughter Yoga Certification parallel to the TRO conference. By the end of the program, participants will be certified as a Laughter Yoga Leader. We are taking a brief survey to determine if there is enough interest. TRO member input will help us decide whether we should offer it or not.  Please take 1 -2 minutes to complete the survey and submit no later than Dec. 5, 2017.

About Laughter Yoga:
  • Laughter yoga is a unique concept where anyone can laugh for no reason without relying on humor or jokes of comedy.
  • The reason we call it laughter yoga is because it combines laughter exercises with yoga breathing. This brings more oxygen to the body and the brain which makes you feel more energetic and healthy.
  • The concept of laughter yoga is based on scientific fact that the body cannot differentiate between fake and real laughter if done with willingness. One gets the same health benefits, whether laughter is real or simulated.
About TR and Laughter Yoga:
  • Laughter Yoga is a valuable addition to TR programs for a variety of populations including people with mental health disorders, physical disabilities, special needs, visual impairment, cancer, seniors, children…
  • Benefits of Laughter Yoga can be found across all 5 TR domains (physical, social, emotionally, mental and spiritual) including; improved oxygen levels, increased blood circulation, improved communication skills, decreased stress, improved self-confidence, decreased depression and anxiety and maintained emotional balance
  • Laughter Therapy programs can be developed in alignment with the three components of the Leisure Ability Model; Functional Intervention, Leisure Education, and Recreation Participation.
