ALIA and NSLA are looking for case studies to include in the 2023-24 Annual Public Library Statistics Report. We have identified four key focus areas for the case studies: evolving memberships; digital inclusion; impact of library programs; assistance with e-government. Definitions for each area are below.

Please only provide a short overview of the case study. We will reach out for detailed case studies for those we plan to include in the report.

You can submit as many case studies as you think are relevant. Please submit a separate form for each case study.

Evolving memberships
Library membership is decreasing so we are seeking case studies around how people are accessing library services without a library membership.
Examples:
Accessing library programs and services that don't require a library membership such as accessing local history materials, internet access, attending a community group held at the library
Unlimited loans mean families are using one family library card

Digital inclusion
There have been notable increases in both public access device usage and digital device loans. We are seeking stories that relate to use of these services.
Examples:
A library visitor loaning a laptop to take an online university exam
A library visitor uses the image editing software on library computers to design flyers for their new business

Impact of library programs
Program attendance continues to increase. We are seeking stories on the impact of library programs.
Examples:
English Conversation Club leading to a new migrant finding friends or a community
A senior person learning how to videocall their grandchild who lives in a different state

Assistance with e-government
Public libraries are increasingly providing support and access to e-government services. We are seeking case studies that support this.
Example:
Assisting a library visitor to access Services Australia online
Assisting a library visitor to renew their passport

Other
Case studies that you think are compelling and should be considered for the public report.
