The Motivations, Success Factors and Barriers of Entrepreneurs in the Farming Sector: The Case of Ontario

 
 
 
Dear Farmers:
 
We, Dr. Yasser Ghoreishi, an Professor at Seneca College and Dr. Yves Robichaud, full professor at Laurentian University, are conducting this research project to evaluate the perceptions of farmers in Ontario regarding the motives for self-employment, the indicators for measuring success and investigating the barriers faced by farmers in Ontario.
 
The survey contains three sections, including general owner information (8 questions), general farm information (7 questions), and farmers' motivations, business success and barriers (14 questions). The survey will take between 15 to 20 minutes to complete. 
 
The findings of this research project could be beneficial to agricultural entrepreneurs, as its value lies in its original attempt to assess the parameters impacting entrepreneurial success in the Agric sector and the motives for being in business. It will also be helpful to policymakers trying to determine whether the agriculture system requires more attention and support by providing subsidies and the scholars who would like to know more about the motivations and barriers of the farmers in Ontario. Finally, the participants will also benefit from the results, as it is expected that we will know more about the farming sector of the economy once the study is completed.
