The future of SEND services in England - a Naval families perspective

The Department for Education (DfE) is currently holding a consultation on the future provision of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) services for children and young people in England. They are seeking views from everyone who has an interest in these changes, including families, teachers and local authorities.

You may have already seen or completed the full questionnaire here: SEND reform: putting children and young people first - Department for Education. We would love to hear from you even if you have already responded directly to the DfE.

The NFF will be providing evidence to the consultation specifically to raise awareness of the unique challenges faced by Naval Service families, and we would like to invite your views on some of the key questions from the consultation document, to support our formal response. The closing date is Sunday 26th April 2026.

This short questionnaire is designed to be completed by the parent of any child with SEND who has experience of the education system in England.
