The Doris Watkins Workshop Award |
The Doris Watkins Workshop Award was established in 2009, in honor of Doris Watkins, one of MIRID’s founding members, and a long time Executive Board member. Doris mentored and supported many interpreters throughout her career. Those who knew her said she paid many registration fees for her mentees/colleagues out of her own pocket, and was genuinely interested in supporting the professional development of our Michigan interpreters. She will be missed by many.
This award will pay one half of the registration fee for an interpreting related professional development workshop/event. Monies will be remitted to the applicant after they share proof of registration to the MIRID Treasurer.
An applicant is eligible to receive this award only one time per calendar year.
Please apply a minimum of 45 days, up to a maximum of 90 days prior to the need of the award.
