About the program:
"CARES Recovery Corps,” (CRC) which will provide localized, accessible, and sustainable peer recovery support services (RSS) in Morris and Passaic Counties, delivered by people with lived experience with addiction and recovery in Morris and Passaic Counties.
Prevention is Key (PIK) will create and launch the CRC to bring Peer to Peer recovery support services to the targeted communities. This will assist individuals, including families and Veterans, in improving their health and wellness, live self-directed lives, and build a sustainable life in recovery. Members of the CRC are Ambassadors because they are a representation of both recovery and PIK. Ambassadors will be trained in the Certified Peer Recovery Specialist Training, to enhance their knowledge and understanding of the services that they will provide to the community. CRC will engage the community through advocacy, relationship building, socialization, connection to recovery resources, and empowerment starting within the first year by conducting outreach and holding special events.
CRC Ambassadors will be a positive force within the communities, bringing hope, strength, and a voice to their local recovery ecosystem. The Ambassadors will be equipped and ready to provide recovery support services to individuals within Morris and Passaic County.
If you want to use your lived experience with experience with substance use and recovery to help others on their recovery journey apply to be part of Prevention is Key’s CARES Recovery Corps. *Successful applicants will receive 46 hours of instruction in the Certified Peer Recovery Specialist Curriculum, 500 hours of peer work, and 25 hours of supervision.
