Welcome to your Mixed Methods International Research Association (MMIRA) membership survey!

Dear Mixed Methods International Research Association (MMIRA) Member

We write as members of the Mixed Methods International Research Association (MMIRA - mmira.wildapricot.org/) Survey Subcommittee to ask your help. We are interested in your perspectives as current MMIRA members to inform our future initiatives and strategic directions. We plan to share the findings on the website and at the 2018 MMIRA Global conference in Vienna in August. The following survey is anticipated to take no more than 15 minutes.

Clicking through and completing the survey indicates you have chosen to participate in this research. By completing this survey, you are consenting to having your responses included in this study. Although we would like you to answer every question, you can decline to answer a particular question—just leave it blank and complete the questions you feel comfortable answering. You can withdraw at any time by exiting the survey. If you complete the survey—and we really hope that you do—it will not be possible to withdraw your responses because they are gathered anonymously. We are asking every current member of MMIRA to complete this survey. The MMIRA Board members have agreed to provide one lucky survey respondent a free one-year MMIRA membership. If you are interested in adding your name to the draw, please complete the appropriate item at the end of the survey.

All information collected will be kept confidential. Results from this project will be reported as a group; any individual responses will only be seen by the research team. The results from this project will be presented to various audiences (e.g., conferences, and articles). This project will likely identify member priorities that can inform MMIRA’s strategic planning and so the perspectives from a range of disciplines and expertise are sought.

Please note that we will only ask for your email address if you would like to receive a report of the group results or if you would like to enter the draw for a free MMIRA one-year membership (approximate value $50 US and odds of winning are dependent upon number who enter but approximately 1 in 400). The information collected will be kept in a secured storage space and the computers in which the data file will be kept are password protected and encrypted. In general, the survey responses will be kept for a minimum of 5 years. However, because this survey might become a regular event, data may be kept for longer than 5 years in order to use them for yearly comparisons. Because the Survey Monkey online platform will be used to collect your responses, data will be housed on servers located in the United States. Note: The confidentiality procedures will be followed with all information provided to us. However, because Survey Monkey is a U.S.-based organization, under U.S. privacy laws, the U.S. government has the right to access that information under certain circumstances.

We do not expect any risks from being in this study. Rather, sharing your feedback will help MMIRA identify and develop effective membership benefits.

The plan for this study has been reviewed for its adherence to ethical guidelines and approved by Research Ethics Board 2 at the University of Alberta.
