Volunteer Application - Foster Parent Before you get started… Thank you for your interest in fostering with Seattle Humane!At this time, we are only seeking new foster homes for the types of pets listed below. Most pets go to foster care because they have special medical or behavioral needs, they are too young to stay at the shelter, or because they would be most comfortable in a certain type of environment.Please select which types of cases you would be interested in fostering (if any). Prior experience is not required, just a willingness to learn! Some cases may require certain home types, which are noted below. Question Title Cats Shy and under-socialized cats or kittens Kitten litters Cats with behavioral needs Cats or kittens with ringworm FeLV+ cats Question Title Dogs Dogs with behavioral needs – These dogs often need a home without other pets, and without children under the age of 13 Reactive dogs – These dogs often need a home without other pets, in a house that has a fenced-in yard or is located in a more secluded neighborhood where they are unlikely to see other dogs around Puppy litters (including nursing moms and puppies) Puppies with Parvovirus Dogs or puppies with Ringworm Question Title Small Mammals* Critters with special medical needs *Seattle Humane works with the following types of Small Animals: domestic rabbits, rats, mice, chinchillas, guinea pigs, hamsters, and gerbils. If you are looking to foster other types of critters, such as ferrets or reptiles, we recommend seeking another organization to foster with as we are unlikely to have pets that match your interests. Not interested in any of these?If you are not interested or able to foster at least one of these types of animals, Seattle Humane is unlikely to have foster pets available for you.
