Tribal History/Shared History Curriculum Educator Survey 2023

Section One: General Information

Dear Educator,

The Oregon Department of Education’s Office of Indian Education has been working with the Region 16 Comprehensive Center to conduct research on the implementation of SB13, or the Tribal History/Shared History Initiative. We are conducting a survey to gather information that will help identify and inform the development of additional supports and resources that educators and administrators can leverage to improve implementation of the initiative. Your input and perspective are critical to this process.

This form of the survey is for school level educators: teachers, paraprofessionals, specialists and administrators who work in K-12 schools.

The survey is designed to elicit a variety of perspectives about three topics: (1) exemplary practice for the implementation of the curriculum, (2) challenges to implementation and (3) professional development.  The survey is designed to provide critical data to inform the further development of the initiative. The survey is anonymous, and the data will only be used for program improvement.

As an incentive for completing the survey, please send the five-digit code at the end of the survey to: thshcurrsurvey2023@gmail.com.   This generic code will not be associated with your survey submission.  In early June, we will draw names for book winners!  The winning educators will receive one of four books:

Indigenous Children’s Survivance in Public Schools (Indigenous and Decolonizing Studies in Education) By Leilani Sabzalian

Street Data: A Next-Generation Model for Equity, Pedagogy, and School Transformation
By Shane K. Safir, Jamila Dugan

Unsettling Settler-Colonial Education: The Transformational Indigenous Praxis Model (Multicultural Education Series), Edited By Cornel Pewewardy, Anna Lees, Robin Zape-tah-hol-ah Minthorn

Respectfully,

Scott Christian, PhD,  Rhonda Larson
