As the Town continues to work toward achieving the goals and priorities outlined in its Corporate Strategic Plan for 2015-17, please rate the importance of the following capital projects currently underway (on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being of the highest importance and 1 being of the least importance):

• A New Recreation Multiplex: Planning for a new recreation Multiplex at the current Arena site saw Council approve in principal a Preliminary Design for the project in 2017, beginning with a new Fieldhouse as Phase 1 of the project implementation. This project will require senior government grant funding and local fundraising before it can proceed. For more details and to view the preliminary design, go to www.ponoka.ca, click on ‘Community’, then ‘Recreation’, and then ‘Proposed Community Wellness Centre’.

• Community Learning Centre: The Town has signed a lease for up to 28,000 sq. ft. of floor space in the new Community Learning Centre building being constructed by a developer on the old hospital site at the north end of Downtown Ponoka on 50 Street. The leased space will be used for a new expanded Library, Town administrative offices, Town Council Chambers, and space to be subleased on the main floor to Campus Alberta Central for a new learning centre that would bring post-secondary education programs and courses to Ponoka. • Downtown Action Plan: The purpose of the Downtown Action Plan is to guide future development and growth in Downtown Ponoka – to attract new investment, businesses and visitors to the Downtown, and to create a vibrant community hub that becomes a catalyst for economic growth in Ponoka. The 25-year Plan includes suggested actions to encourage future growth and development Downtown; recommended streetscape design improvements; architectural guidelines for future Downtown building development; a heritage preservation overlay that identifies sites of historical interest and requires a review of these properties prior to major changes; a parking management plan; and a marketing strategy.
