The Fab Lab Network is founded on three pillars, the .edu (education), the .org (social impact), and the .com (economic opportunity). Fab Foundation and University of Oulu have come together in the interest of connecting and sharing knowledge around the .edu, specifically the Fab Lab Network’s youth (K-12) education efforts globally. There is much that we are all doing that would be beneficial to share, and potentially fulfill the needs and gaps that exist in our collected educational outreach. To that end, we are surveying the global network for information on youth educational activities across the Fab Lab network in order to create new educational tools, stronger frameworks for teaching and learning, and a more coherent and connected fab education community.

In exchange for your valuable time and effort, we plan to share the results of this research with you by providing you with the resulting research paper, as well as by hosting a live webinar to discuss the synergies, gaps, challenges and opportunities surfaced by the survey. Additionally we would like to promote your work, through an online “Zine” that features the youth educational work and programs offered in each of your fab labs and makerspaces.
